Anyone ever see this around anywhere ?
I have had an old rifle over 20 years(First one I ever bought) got my first FAC to buy it.
Over the years it was robbed of parts by my brother..to try and fix his 7mm....lol..don't even ask(And it woulda been nice if he put the spring back in the mag)
Anyhow I bought one last night on here.
I would like to find a box or 2 of shells for it.

Any leads would be great :D

I've seen it on the shelves of some small gun shops over the years, usually covered in dust.
The range I go to had some from Norma on the shelf for years. No idea if it's still there. Was over $50 for 20rnds if I remember correctly.

I looked into cartridge conversions a while ago as I was considering getting one and found that 7.7 Jap can be made from .30-06 but not much for the 6.5.

Is it an Arisaka-38? I got some 7.7-Jap for my Arisaka-99 from Wolverine... Took a long time to come in, and was around $45/20Rnds + tax + ship, but they got it for me. Ask them about the 6.5. There's a good chance they can help you out, and they're real nice about it.

I will do that ;-)
Gotta call John here in the next week or so to find out if he can get the shotgun parts for me.
Don't wanna rush him on that lol..

This is it, Is 6.5 as far as I know from the description.
I am no expert on these.
I do have one in full wood that is missing parts though(and the MUM) figured on a change of wood for this one..

That doesn't look like the original stock (sporterized?), but it does look like an Arisaka-38... Nice that it still has the MUM intact, but the bolt handle has been effed with.

This is what it would look like with the original stock: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b4/Arisaka_Type_38_rifle.JPG

If you're a reloader, this guy is selling a bunch of brass that might work: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1081162-Once-fired-Norma-6-5x55mm

Yea figured the bolt been messed with, the one I have here is straight(also still has the dust cover)
I'm not a reloader yet lol, but might be soon;)
Once it arrives here I will be able to look it over and see what I have between the 2 rifles :)

Was looking with google , I don't think that brass will work .
But it might be good for one of the swiss rifles that seem to be showing up lately(I picked up some brass last night where I shoot)

6.5x55 shouldn't work as a base case as that is a rimless round and 6.5x50SR (semi-rimmed) is not a rimless round.

To the OP you will likely have to find some brass specifically for 6.5x50 as the round is semi-rimmed. Tradeex used to have some but they are sold out. If you are going to trade out the wood and such you will have to get a properly headspaced straight handled bolt as well if you want to make it as close to original as possible (personally I would trade out the missing parts from your sporter to your full wood one but that's just my opinion).

That is an option as well, but the one I have I have never fired.
The bore is rusted badly(I did not know enough to oil the thing when I got it)
Fortunatly I know better now and have oiled it up to prevent it getting worse.

No rush on this ;-)
I have plenty of shooters

Heck for all I know the bolt in the one I already have might be way out of spec

Once it gets here I will start a thread in the Milsurp section
