6.5 Long Action, looking at building 6.5x55 , 6.5 x284 or 260 long action

one day, the swedes immagined a cartridge which gets the best possible ballance between performance, accuracy and barrel life. then yankees have tried to get something bettet because of course there is no way they would admit someone else makes something good enough for them. Well, this was about 125 years ago and they are still trying
actually the americans developed the ‘6.8x64’ in 1923 ... but for some reason - despite the fact that something better has been sitting under their noses for 94 years - north americans still get excited over a little Swedish ####.

I have all 3 calibers, the 6.5-284 has highest velocity, other two are about equal. So given the same components for a build there is no difference in accuracy, the barrel should be an 8 twist.
My preferrence would be the 260 in a short action, choose the one that rings a bell.

a vote for the 6.5-06, simplest wildcat ever, you can use brass from a 25-06 or 270 with ease, on par with the 6.5x284 without feeding ramp issues or expensive brass, more velocity than the 6.5x55 swede or 260, mild recoil, standard bolt face. accurate and the fun of saying you own a wildcat but doesn't have a bunch of work to build and shoot.

I was talking to one of my buddies (an actual Swede) I asked him if the stories were true that they have 6.5 Mausers kicking around like we have sportered Enfields. His response of "Nah, we mostly shot .308's." came as a bit of a surprise to me, lol.

Ok I’m curious with all these new 6.5’s ...6.5 creedmore...the 6.5x55 ..the ai’s ....6.5x284...6.5-06..the 6.5 weatherby.....the 260...260ai
Would someone please tell me what’s the hype!!!!.....bigger case equals more powder...more velocity.......but burns out the barrel .....
So if one were to build a shooter which one would it be and why .......I’m asking because I have been thinking about one ...for shooting...and maybe for girlfriend to use for hunting .....
Please someone message me ...and educate me
I know a bit but want to know if I’m missing something
ThNk you for your time

For a Long action build with the most performance go 6.5 Sherman. It will drive the highest and heaviest BC bullets available over 3000 fps easily. Short action then go 6.5 SS. Rich does have brass available for the SS line now which is a plus.
