I never heard anybody talking about that caliber - why? Was supposed to be cheap fix to 223 into something with more punch with minimal investment. Is there ammo in production or is it some sort of wildcat? Does anybody make barrels for this cartridge?

The correct name for the cartridge is the 6.8mm SPC. It's the .30 remington necked down to .277 cal. Factory ammo is available but hard to find.
I am talking about 6.5 MPC, different cartrige from 6.8 SPC - do not mix. 6.5MPC is opened up 223 case to accept different bullet. I thought by now someone would have tools to chamber barrels for new cartridge. Come on people, don't tell me there is no such thing.
There is a 6.5 TCU that is a 223 necked up to 6.5 and blown out with a sharp shoulder. It has been used primarily for sillouhette shooting.

Strictly a wildcat. It's a slightly shortened(3mm) .223 case with a 6.5mm bullet. You'd have to find a 6.5mm barrel, chamber reamer and headspace guages. A minimal investment it wouldn't be.
SSK Industries, Stateside, says they have brass and dies though. Not that they can export brass without the U.S. export permit.
