The title says it all, have a Tikka 695, love it have had several Weatherbys, loved them all, never owned a Bergara. They are all around the same price point with the Weatherby and Berga a few hundred less than the Tikka. Suggestions?

I've bought two Tikka's in the last couple of yrs, can't complain about either of them, both shoot good, action is awesome, triggers are great. Only mods done so far is I bought Yo Dave springs for both, and the more vertical style grip for the other, installed QD push in sockets in the one. Maybe the only beef is plastic mags on the T3X, but, they are Ok so far, the TAC A1 mags aren't cheap, but, they aren't a cheap plastic mag either. I'd read some reviews where Bergara could be a bit hit or miss on barrels, others where they were great. Haven't really seen anything bad about Howa/Weatherby. I don't know if Yo-Dave springs help the Bergara and Howa/Weatherby as much as they do a Tikka, see a lot of people using Triggertechs, Calvin Elites etc on them. That was one point that pushed me to Tikka, was the least amount of stuff to tweak or replace, but, still a decent selection of goodies if I wanted them..

I only have experience with one of the mentioned brands. I have owned multiple Tikkas. Varmint to Stainless Lite. I have loved every single one. They all shot sub moa at 100 Yards. I also shoot left hand so that's a big bonus to me. I jumped on the 6.5 PRC train very early on and ended up getting a CA Mesa in 6.5 PRC left hand as it was about the only option around.

I recently sold the Mesa and bought a Left hand T3X CTR in 6.5 PRC. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but I love the damn thing. I just enjoy tikka rifles. An will be turning it into a switch barrel setup. Just my two cents but I will always tell people to get a Tikka!

Cheers,
B

I have no experience with Bergara, I have owned several Tikkas and I still own 6 vanguards, I prefer Vanguards over Tikkas but you could not go wrong with either, the only plus for me with Tikka is the lighter weight, I prefer the Weatherby stocks, hinged floor plate and I think sturdier overall construction. My Vanguards are all in Bell and Carlson, Laminate or walnut stocks. The Tikka synthetic stock does not fit me well.

How about a Winchester Model 70 ?

Have you decided yet ?

I took my new Tikka T3X CTR 6.5 PRC out to the range today.

The first 3 shots were with Nosler factory 140gr Accubond ammo. I then proceeded to adjust my scope then tried three more groups letting the rifle sit between three shot groups. This group was basically fresh out the box! With just cleaning of any factory grease left over.

My be shoots similar groups,5 rounds instead of 3 though.

I’ll get four in a nice cluster then a one off that opens the group to a .6 -.7

Drives me crazy.. lol

I have owned four T-3 rifles, three Vanguards, and have developed loads for one Bergara. The T-3s have great triggers, and seemed the least fussy about loads, and all four shot sub 1/2moa with handloads. The Vanguards we also accurate, but not quite as accurate as the T-3s, then again, the t-3s were three varmints and a CTR, whereas the Vanguards were sporters. The Bergara had a good trigger, but was extremely fussy, and copper fouling was extreme, even though it was chambered in 6.5cm. My own 6.5 PRC is a Christensen Traverse, but it isn't one of the options.

I had a Christensen Arms Mesa which shot very well that was sporter barrel. I just prefer tikka's. I do agree with you on the tikka triggers. I have heard nothing but good about vangaurds so thats a bonus. I am curious to see what the OP has to say when he buys one.
