6.5 twist

So 130s should work fine.
What's the best length to cut the barrel back to for length?
I have a 30 inch blank to start with.

I believe Berger recommends a 1 in 8 for there 130 gr. I would go 1 in 8. What if you do want to shoot 140's at some point?

My 27" barrel 1:8 twist comfortably runs 123's at 2950.

But velocity doesn't equal accuracy so build the rifle you want and chrono your loads then calculate your drop chart.
My buddy runs his 139 Scenars at 2750 out of his T3 Sporter and that rifle is extremely accurate to 920.

If you follow the info coming out of the applied ballistics lab, they have found it is very hard to over twist a bullet. They have actually found the bullets maintain their stability future out the faster the twist.
For all long range 6.5 bullets I would recommend a 8 twist.
As for AI I love mine but fire forming is a pain.
Out of a 30 in tube I was getting 2915 with 4831sc. I have cut that barrel to 23.75in and get 2850 with H4350. Out of my 27 in barrel I was getting 2950 with h4350.
All these loads are with Lapua 136L bullets.

You gain 120 fps and never have to trim.... It's a toss up man!

All things equal I don't know if there's an extra 100+ fps in the AI over a standard .260Rem.
A couple buddies shoot this cartridge and IIRC both are at approximately 2850fps with 140's. Both have 26" barrels.I know of a few .260's pushing 140's at 2840ish from 24-26" tubes.
Depending on chamber/throat/etc, I'd say its 50fps superior.

Some people fire form with full house loads so this process doesnt have to be an inconvenience. No question brass lasts longer and with less maintenance.
