Want to start reloading for my 6.5 x 55 . but i want to be sure what action i have first. From what I have read the 96 are bomb proof but the 93 and the Kraig where not nearly as strong.I deffinatly don't have kraig ( easy to indentify) but not sure how to differentiate between the 93 & 96 action.As I want to go a bit hot on a couple loads this is very important

The 96 although much stronger isn't exactly bomb proof and hot loads should be approached with caution. The 98 is the stongest of the mauser actions. What are the marking on your rifle?

most reload data for 6.5x55 is based on the max preasure for the weaker actions .
this is due to" liability "
start low and work up while lookin for your presure signs.I have a krag .I have never seen any signs of preasure at my manuals max loads .

it's a very strong action but not as "safe" as the k98 models. I had an old 96 model swede and went pretty hot on alot of my reloads with no problems. as has already been said just work up slow.

many thx all

the markings on the rifle are as follows :
on top of recviever;
1 st a crown stamp, then
CARL GUSTAFS STADS
GEVARSFAKTORL
1905
on side of reciever;
jv 16###x

I am consistantly amazed at what this cart. can do. dam sure its not me . incredibly accurate & at amazing ranges . i checked out the remington website . with a comparable weight bullet in 270 / 3006 / 308 its muzzel fps is lacking but out at 300 - 500 yards it catches & surpasses .
anyway i would like to be sure of the action as i am going to ramp it up a bit.
