Recently picked up an RPR in 6.5 Creedmoor and I'm looking to brake it but I'm having a hard time finding one that doesn't break the bank. Anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers!

Brakes aren't for everybody, but I like them. Why put one on a 6.5? So you have almost no recoil and can spot your hits. I have a DE 4 port on my 15 lb 6.5X47. It is almost like shooting a pellet gun. To the OP I have a HOLLAND on my 300 WM and it also works great. Give Gary at Big Horn Sales a call. He usually has brakes in stock.

The idea of a muzzle break is to redirect muzzle blast gases, outward, rearward, and upwards. This then reduces the felt recoil of the rifle.

I would have thought most people new this. But it is nice to help a new shooter out.

I think this is sarcasm? If so I thought it was funny, He's saying why brake a 6.5 because its felt recoil is minuscule. My 6.5 CM modern hunter has about the same recoil as my 223. I wouldnt bother with the extra weight, but if its that concerning I'd talk to either insight or EM precision here around edmonton.

Talk about bringing back a dead thread - 5 months between posts and doesn't even add value.

I find it funny when guys think that shooting an unbraked gun makes them manly...

Being manly has nothing to do with it. Muzzle brakes are a fine accessory but on a 6.5 I think a 50.00 Decelerator or Limbsaver recoil pad would be just as effective. Maybe you just like your guns louder.
When the recoil energy starts exceeding 25 ft. lbs. there is a definite advantage to having a brake if you want to spend a day at the range without beating yourself up. With the Creedmore you will be somewhere between 11.5 and 13 ft. lbs. quite tolerable for most shooters but I am not judging anyone for their choice of accessories.
My 135 lb. wife shoots 40 rounds a day, once a week from April to Oct. weather permitting, with a 6.5x55 Swede. No bruising, no flinching, no brake.

Muzzle Brakes in the bush I guess are OK. Muzzle Brakes at the range, NO, if you are shooting beside a braked gun
You receive all the noise and the concussion will actually move your rifle (while sighting for that final shot into a five shot group Grrr).
