Carcano's are indeed good shooters but they are also pretty much strictly a handloader's gun. If you could find ammo I'm sure it would be VERY expensive.
Reloading components can be had through trade ex and I believe lee makes carcano dies fairly cheaply.

I've got a couple Carcano's.(M 41 and 91/24 carbine) They make fun plinkers ,are well made and reasonably accurate. Ammo is expensive if you can find it. En bloc clips also required but they are available. Saw some at a recent Toronto gun show. Handloading is the way to go. I shoot mostly cast through mine.

An estimate of reloading costs would be 50 cents per round for jacketed and 25 cents for cast. Less if you cast your own. Apparently many Carcano bores are oversize (.267-268) and work best with a special Hornady oversize 6.5 bullet. They are not cheap ie 40-45 dollars a hundred. That would increase the cost of jacketed reloads another 10-15 cents. I just shoot my as cast .267 dia CG bullets in mine.

What do you use for a mold?

I have 2 moulds that I use to cast for my 6.5 rifles (2 M38 Swedes and the 2 Carcanos). One is a 20 yr old Lyman266469 DC and the other a much older Ideal 266455 SC. They both cast around 266-267 and I use a 266 sizer die to seat GC only then pan lube or liquid alox. The Swede bores can be a little oversize as well. I would like to try the Lee special order 6.5 which is oversize and about 170 grs.
