Does any retailer in Canada have 6.5mm ELD-X in stock? I seem to have clicked through every site sponsor, seems like this bullet is affected heavily by shortages.

I'm tempted to try the ELD Match but I have been happy with the performance of ELD-X previously and I will be using this load for hunting and target shooting.

Tagged for interest. I just ordered some 140gr eldm and I will be using them for coyotes and possibly deer if I get a load worked up in time.
I had a bad experience with the eldm for hunting purposes.
I personally wouldn’t use them again.

I'd like to hear your experience. From the research I've done they are supposed to perform well on thin skinned game.
My buddy shot a young bull moose , broadside at 50 yards.
It just ran away.
He tracked it for a couple of hrs until the blood trail dried up.
Never did find him.
I was with him, he said he read online that they were suitable for hunting.

I’ve seen .243 with a proper bullet,do better.

Accubond in .284 or bigger for moose (something bonded)..

I picked up a 6.5 recently, however I will only target shoot and hunt whitetail with it (300 yards max with 143gr eld-x/cup & core). 140gr .264 accubonds are nowhere to be found.

The popularity of the 6.5CM and PRC has made them very in demand. I've killed a few deer with them in my 6.5x47L and they perform great. Keep an eye on the EE they come around on there from time to time.

Ya I certainly wouldn't be using a target bullet on moose.

Bullet placement and understanding the role that impact velocity plays on bullet performance is very important. ELDM's in my experience perform very well when impact velocity is low and you aren't trying to break heavy shoulders. The 147 ELDM will perform very similar to a 143gr ELDX. I have shot moose with the 147's at distance. Last one was 330m out of a Creedmoor. It was broadside and there was nothing left of the lungs. I would be very cautious of taking that shot at 50m if I was worried about striking the shoulder. The boy just shot an nice 6x6 elk at 150m that was alert to our presence and starting to trot off. Bullet entered inside back ribs and was found against the scapula of far shoulder. Bull didn't make it 100 yards before piling up. If I am hunting tighter cover where shorter range shots are more of the norm I use a much tougher bullet.
