Hey guys,

I was hoping to source a modified case for my 6.5x47 build that I can use in my Hornady OAL gauge. To date I've been using the less than ideal "Sharpie method", and I'd like the ability to be a bit more precise (like I am with my other more "mainstream" chamberings). I see lots of options from of the US or Europe but nothing domestically.

Thanks!

Drill and tap the casehead to screw onto the Hornady gauge. Use a fire-formed case and just body size it so the bullet can still slide through the neck freely.
Any gunsmith or machinist should be able to do this for you.

A regular off the shelf tap and die set doesn’t have the right tap usually anyways. It’s a 5/16 x 36 tap and a L drill bit that works best. You could get both from amazon or wherever and do it yourself though it may take a few tries to drill it out square if you don’t have a drill press or lathe access. If you give it a go just seat a bullet and pull it a few times so It will slide freely to use with the oal tool.

You don't find that the bullet gets pulled out a couple hundredths once you try to extract it after it touches the lands? I've seen that video before but I've never tried it. It didn't seem super repeatable but if you guys are having success it's worth a shot.
