6.5x47 lapua ???

There were quite a number of these built several years ago but most that I know of have been rebuilt to bigger calibers. The results were mixed in F-Open competition. Some were good and some weren't. The sport has moved more to the 7mm's shooting the 180 grain bullets. Take a look at the straight 284, 284 Shehane or the 7mm Saum. The straight 284 seems to be the most popular.

For Tactical, the 308 is the primary choice because almost nobody here shoots in open class which is what this cartridge would put you in.

If lapua doesn't make brass for it, I don't shoot it in competition. period. life is too short to muck with cheap brass. For that reson alone I would go 6.5X47 Lapua, but I have also had a 6.5X47 and loved it. It is too small for the high BC, heavy& long 139-142 bullets that are the ticket in long distance shooting.

creedmore is tougher to find.

Don't forget the fantastic 6.5x55 swede or the 260.
