Greetings!

Ok I have a bunch of brass from what I had of the old Swedish Surplus ammo I found, and of course it was Berdan (2 hole) primers.

Can I simply intall a modern primer, and reload as I would with regular Brass?

Or should I just post it in the EE section?

No. Berdan primers aren't the same size and the anvil is part of the case. They're not in any way interchangable with Boxer primers. Pitch or recycle the Berdan primed brass and go buy some boxer primed 6.5 x 55 brass.

Darn...

I guess I'll recycle them in my brass bucket.
The place I shop at in Victoria has been having a hard time finding my brass.
:(

I'll guess I'll try Russle wholesalers next.

Thanx for the link, great info as always. :)

Calum, if you reload, you can form 6.5 Swede brass from 7x57, just trim, size and re-trim, you probably won't even have to ream or turn the necks (measure to be sure). I've made 6.5x55 brass from .270 as well, more work but the brass was free. I also used .308, it leaves a pretty short neck; but it worked for several firings in my AG42b before I lost them.
Or you could order some Lapua cases from ###.

You can use RWS Berdan primers. Reloading Berdan is no big deal. I reloaded a lot of it before Boxer brass became plentiful. Problem with resizing and trimming 7x57, .270, 6mm Rem, etc is that the head of the case is a tad too small. Lots of folks have done this, I have too, but you will see a more noticable expansion ring in front of the sold head than you would with correct brass. In the event of a case failure, this difference in diameter could be important. '96 pattern actions do not have the gas handling qualities of '98s. Best course of action is to get some current Boxer primed brass.

re: 6.5X55 brass:

Wholesale Sports stocks bulk Remington brass in caliber 6.5 X 55. This brass uses regular Boxer primers.
