So,

I bought some 95 gr V max a while back for my 6.5x55. All good I thought.
I have not found any loads. the only one I got was one here someone got from a reloading software, 41.5grs of varget to start and 45 grs. roughly as a max.

Looking in my sierra manual loads for a 85 gr. it gives me the same load. I simply assume this can not be accurate then. not completely anyways.

now, looking in my 49th lyman manual it gives me a load for a 100 gr bullet 35 -39 grs (varget). i believe.

My question here is that if I take the min for the 85gr load and use the max for the 100 gr load (39 - 41.5). more or less using the numbers in between the two loads. Would this be a somewhat reasonable starting place for me?? Or should I consider sticking closer to the 100 gr load??

I have an 1910 CG M96 that was rebarrelled by Kimber when it was sporterized. (that's what I'm told and the stamp on the barrel says, sporterized by Kimber), and I have put many max loads through it without any troubles.

Any help would be great, I'm dying to load this bullets and go blast some gophers.

This is a very common situation, and the accepted practice is to simply use the published loads for the next heavier bullet, in this case the 100 gr. Working up from there means exceeding the published pressures for the 100 gr bullet, and in very short order, any 95 gr bullet. If you must, you could go one grain higher. The swedish M96 action is rated at 46K CUP and its best to respect that. Many people have found accurate loads at that pressure or lower.

Waiting until there is a "problem", can't be advised, nor can generally looking for signs of "high pressure". These pressure signs are subjective and notoriously unreliable.
 
Hornady 95g V-Max Lapua brass, 210m primer, 41.3g RL 15 2.975 OAL This is my go to load using a Rem 700 Classic, Fantastic load shoots 1/2 inch at 100 easily if I do my part.

Works well in 2 M96 Swedes I have also, no pressure problems in my gun, can't remember where I got the starting data although I develop my loads in .2 or .3 grain increments until I find an accurate load, usually never shoot max loads, I like to get the most out of a pound of powder.
 
b72471 good to know, I'm curious to see how they perform, I usually shoot relatively heavier bullets.


Yeah I use 4064 for my hunting loads (140gr partition) and they shoot well, but I was advised but a guy down at the range here to try varget and I have to say i'm pretty happy with it. Shooting gophers at around 150 yards with 129gr SST regularly. Very impressed with the bullet too.
