The Soderin and other Diopter sights are designed to use a target "tunnel type" front sight that has interchangeable types of front sight inserts. These are a bit higher than the regular issue post type front sights. There are several types of these front sights.
Does your rifle have a target "tunnel type" front sight, or just a regular post type front sight on it?
If it is the regular issue type, then higher sights are available on e-Bay. I really do not use them, as a lot of shooting I do is further than 100 yards, and if you replace the front sight so that you are zeroed at 100 yards, any distances past that will not coincide with the yardage markings on the sights. Issue sights are zeroed for 300 Meters.
These are Military rifles, designed for shooting at a vertical target, that is enemy soldiers. So the Infantryman is taught to shoot at the other person's belt buckle, and the bullet will hit and take out the enemy out to 300 Meters without any sight compensation.
When shooting targets at shorter ranges, the Infantryman is taught to aim a bit lower. Target shooters, by using Diopter sights such as your Soderin, replace the front sight with a tunnel type, and use different front inserts. The tunnel type front sight itself is designed to be a bit higher, so that a 100 Meter sight adjustment can be made.
Hope this helps you
