Hey guys,

I was wondering what the availability of 6.5x55mm ammo was in Canada? I have been offered a Swedish AG42B in excellent condition, and I was just wondering where I would be able to get my ammo for this type of gun..

While I am asking, I am also wondering what kind of price you think a gun like that would be worth?

From the picture it looks to be in very good condition, and it comes with the magazine

Well, does anyone know any online stores that sell it in bulk? I can't find any myself.. And pretty much the only place that sells ammo in Ottawa is Lebaron. I am going to check there tomorrow.

Thanks

your best bet is to get some brass and reload your own . I have had a couple of mausers in that caliber and have always found it easier to roll my own . years ago there was a local lapua guy that used to sell 6.5 but alas those were the days and there gone . nothing like blowing up a ground hog at 300 yards with a 151 grain lapua .

Have never seen it in bulk, but if you aren't going to reload it, at least it's not one of the more expensive cartridges.

I've not had any problem finding ammo for mine. I do like to reload it and find that getting good used brass can be a bit of a problem, but did manage to find some at Wholesale sports last weekend in Calgary.
Picked up some nice bullets at a good price at the gun show.
It's a sweet caliber.

Commercial hunting ammo isn't terribly difficult to get. Forget milsurp though.
Epp's is listing one with a bunch of accessories, in 'very good' condition, for $349. And a 'good' condition rifle at $329.
If it didn't have a mag, it's a fancy paper weight. Gunparts wants $71.55US each for a mag. They don't have any.

You may wish to e-mail Districorp (their website is under construction) The last I checked, they still had bulk Igman 6.5x55 SP ammo for a resonable price.

As to the value, depends on condition. Plain-jane examples can be found around the $275.00 mark. Better condition ones say 350 - 450 max.

Edited: I just received an email from Districorp. They are out of 6.5x55
