Does anyone know who has any 6.8mm brass in stock? I'd like to find more SSA Brass, but rem factory would do in a pinch for plinking. Mine are nearing the end of their life.

... On a side note, how many other people are shooting this round around here and what are you feeding it into?

I'm shooting a 700P with 40x SS scope and getting sub-MOA all day long with 115gr. SIE HPBT over 22.9gr.(C) IMR 4198. I'm loving the performance of this round so far, and need to try her out past my available 500m.

Fast, flat and lethal. I love the SPC.

Forgive me for posting half-cocked, but everything I have read (this is normally where I would post article information) suggests that the 6.8 SPC was designed to replace the aging 5.56mm round out to about 400 meters with something that has the killing power of 7.62mm but not as large (reducing ammo carrying capacity) and not having as hard a kick as the 7.62mm. Basically its giving AR's a more lethal round then the 5.56mm with less kick then the 7.62.

I also am lead to believe that this round was not developed to be a replacement for the 7.62 in its role for long range shooting.

There are other rounds that have been developed to compete with the 7.62mm but the 6.8 SPC was not one of them.

Again, I appologize for not posting article specifics, this information is only what I have retained (which seems less and less every year)!!

I had heard something about it as well. I cannot recall where, but I was interested in getting this round in a bolt gun. I was lead to believe that this round was superior to the 5.56, but not as good as a .308.
Therefore, after reading what I had read, I assumed it might as well be better off to go with a 30Cal for longer shots, but the 6.8 was really worth getting in a shorter AR platform.
Educate me more, and I might join you as a fellow 6.8 shooter!

I have found the 6.8mm to be a very accurate cartridge.Using a Rem.700, first groups were under 1" at 100 meters. Benchmark and IMR-4198 both work well. Hornady"s 110 HP works well, picked up a few boxes of 110gr. V-Max. I saw some brass at P+D in Edmonton last week. Epps also has brass.

You might want to check out this article if you want to know a bit more about t the .8 SPC: http://www.rifleshootermag.com/ammunition/remington_0303/

Forgive me for posting half-cocked, but everything I have read ...blah, blah, blah...

No where did I ask your opinions on the effectiveness of this round in AR's, only sourcing brass and other shooters loads. I'm not spitting these out of a AR. So unless you shoot it, keep the speculation to yourself.

I also shoot .223 and .308, they've been collecting dust since I picked up my 6.8mm. I've hit coyotes at 400m and blown the opposite shoulder off the carcase, take that to the critics and uninformed.

Thanks C1A1 for the post, I've found the same. I'm working up a 130gr load for deer. I'll let you know how it goes.

I would be interested in hearing how it performs on deer with your 130 grain load. Maybe a Barnes TSX??? I see Rem offers this in their Model 7 and it might be a nice little deer package for a young, recoil-sensitive shooter. It would probably be a step-up in performance compared to the 30-30.

"...nearing the end of their life..." What brings you to that conclusion? Getting lots of cracks? Trimmed too often? Primers not staying put? Just curious.

I have loaded the Barnes 110gr.TSX. Will let you know how accurate they are.

I just got a 26 inch barreled rem 700p. Love the gun, hate the trigger. I am going to put a jewel hvr 1.5 ounce trigger in her next week and redo my load developements. so far I was shooting cloverleafs with tnt bullets over benchmark at 100 yards. Very impressed with the cartidge overall, I can see a lot of potential with it.

Benchmark produces accurate loads in my 20" Rem.700, but velocity is 225 fps slower that IMR-4198 using the same bullets.AA 1680 is listed in the new Hornady book as the powder producing the highest velocity. yodave, you're right about the potential of this new cartridge. Currently using Rem. brass, but 200 SSA cases are on the way. Do we need a 6.8mm sticky?

What are the pressures listed for the maximum load using imr 4198? I like the higher velocities with the lower pressures for obvious reasons :D
