6.8 spc for a Tavor ??

You mean you could use that compact, light rifle for hunting deer? But...but...its not a 42" long bolt action:confused:

I wish more hunters were like you guys:D The more modern boomsticks out during hunting season the better!!

Or you could just get an XCR-L in 6.8spc and go today...

Get components for a second upper so you can use your original 223 barrel/bolt and you can be plinking, shooting a competition or hunting coyotes/gophers in less than a minute with a 10 round LAR mag.

:p

I've owned 2 Xcr's and sold them both . Maybe if the 6.8 is more accurate with factory ammo than the .223 I'd look in getting one

Nice. What scopes are those? Also, where did you get the components for the second upper? Does Wolverines sell those individually to the gun?

Yes they do I ordered the components in middle June and they arrived at my door Oct 21 so yes I just got the components last Thursday.

Scopes are

223 = older Leupold Vari X 11 4-12X40mm AO LR reticle (just had Tony @ Korth do a warranty check and install the LR reticle I also sighted in a Burris 1X for this upper for my wife to learn how to shoot with both eyes open and to make the set up lighter for her).

6.8 = VX111 4.5-14X40mm 30mm tube side focus Varminter reticle

The 223 upper is installed on the lower in the pic and scope rings = Leupold PRW's.

Friday I was at the club trying out the 223 upper for the first time I was getting 3" 10 shot 100 yard groups with Fiochi 55gr FMJ switched to my 60gr Sierra Varminter/H322 hand loads that are super accurate in any 1-9" twist bolt rifle I have ever used them in and the groups shrunk to 1 1/2" for 10 shots @ 100 yards and remember these are not tuned to this rifle yet.

So it could totally depend on the factory rounds you have been shooting in your XCR's I'm looking for some better loads for my 223 right now I want to be shooting 3" 300 yard groups when I'm finished load development.

About accuracy you can expect with 6.8 factory ammo I have no idea never bought or shot any I load all of my 6.8 ammo actually I load most of my ammo for everything I shoot.

:)

problem with trying to do this with a tavor, you would need to get a bunch of extra parts to monkey with. (new bolt, gas system, barrel) the bolt face would need opening up to standard size, the gas system would need to be adjusted so it would not blow the bolt back through your shoulder, and barrels with gas ports aren't the easiest to make.

if i had the cash and a good machine shop to use id love to try it, but $100 for a gas block, $250+ for a barrel blank, and a rough guess of $200 for a new bolt. its not really cost economical, especially when 6.8 spc ammo is bloody expensive.

If you do go for a 6.8spc someday make sure it has a spec 11 chamber and a 1 - 11" twist barrel if your going to use it for hunting I only recommend the new Barnes 95gr TTSX that Barnes designed specifically for the 6.8 SPC I use 110gr Sierra ProHunters fr my plinking bullets they are very accurate but will not expand under 2300fps which limits me to 125 yards for hunting game.

With Rem brass/Win LR primers/30grs H322/light Lee factory crimp die crimp/loaded to max length to fit the mag in an 18.6" barrel gives me 2825fps muzzle velocity.

:)

Just came back from another deer hunt I shot another mule deer @ 80 yards with my XCR-L in 6.8 SPC loaded with 95gr TTSX shot hit just below the head breaking the neck deer was an instant DRT...
