Hello all!!

Need a little help!

The Carbine is nearly done, have a small amount of rem factory for testing purposes. However, I was wondering if there was anyone esle out there shooting 6.8 SPC in an AR and reloading for it.

Would appreciate any pearls of wisdom and or tried and true loads.

For the record, I do know how to use a serch engine, and have found some loads data, but was wondering if any one here had some actual personal experience with the cartridge.

regards and all the best

Best Bullets for 6.8 SPC

Best results accuracy wise for me was with Hornady VMax or OTH in 110 gr. configuration. A close second was the Speer 100 gr. HP. I haven't been able to get any yet but apparently 10X powder works quite well. H322 works the best for me and because it is an extreme rated powder has been unaffected by temperature. I have shot the round all winter and most of last summer. Very consistent results with that powder. Good velocity as well as your case capacity is limited by COL.
Let us know what works best for you.

Rugerman:

Thx for the imput, what carbine/rifle are you shooting your reloads in??

I have a good stash of WC735. The consensus puts the burn rate inbetween H322 & H335. I want to try that first and see how it goes, but would very much like to try some H322 as well as some RL 10. I have heard many good things about both powders both in 6.8 spc and 223/5.56 Nato.

msg.drew - you smart a$$ :D

Components

Not meaning to hijack but where did you guys get your dies and shell plate and what brands did you buy?

I got my dies (Forster Ultra Die Set) directly from Forster (before the dollar took a nose dive ULP!); shell holder is same as 270 so they are easy to find and I got my brass from P&D.

Msg. Drew usually has a good selection of Hornady Bullets but you will want to check that he has the Hornadys in that calibre.

Mr. Tritium:

While some what off topic the details are as follows:

When I traded for this upper, I got the upper (less flash hidder), bolt (needed to find a complete carrier, cam pind and firing pin), a set of Lee dies, some remington factory ammo, and a small amount of brass.

More or less enough to test the upper, and feed a compete carbine.

Oh the upper was a Stag, so Walt over at Arms East was kind enough to send me a 6.8 Marked lower to match, and Mark over a Questar sent me a few Cproduct mags :D.

Hope to work on the build tonight and will post pics when done
