I'm most likely going to be jumping on the 6.8SPC wagon myself, for my DM/P Build.

A few questions though: My research shows that 5.56 mags can be used to load 6.8 in, correct? Although my searching on CGN shows that some 5.56 mags don't feed the 6.8 correctly.

As well- the commercial pricing of the round is quite expensive (although not as much as 300 Blk/Whisper) and it is recommended for reloaders. I know SFRC & Wolverine carry commercial 6.8, but any other vendors?

To remedy the above expense issue, (although not an issue, I'm ok with having to pay a bit extra for commercially loaded) I'm thinking of creating a deal with a reloader when I confirm that I will in fact be receiving the 6.8 upper.

I use 7.62x39 mags in my xcr and it feeds perfect. I picked up a few boxed of hornady 120gn ssts here locally so they can be found, but it was over $30 for 20 rounds. I can't wait for my 85 gn barnes bullets to come in so I can work up some loads for it.

I mainly load two different bullets in my 6.8spc XCR-L the 110gr Sierra Prohunters one of the least expensive .277" bullets available for plinking/fun and the 95gr Barnes TTSX for hunting out to 300 yards on deer and 450 yards on coyotes.

The 3 main powders that seem to give the best results are H322, RL10 & AA2200.

I load Rem LR primer brass with Win LR primers and 29grs H322 for the 110gr Prohunters and 30grs H322 for the 95gr TTSX.

The best info available on the 6.8SPC can be found here h ttp://68forums.com/forums/forum.php

Thanks for the info Camp Cook. Frin my CGN research, you are often refered to as the 6.8 expert.

Any input on using 5.56 mags for 6.8? I know its not recommended, but I'd like a real-world opinion.

I'm thinking expert is a bit of a streach... :p

6.8SPC do not work in 223 mags for me I have a 223 upper so have tried 6.8 in the 223 mags.

I recommend contacting Wolverine Supplies and ordering some Robinson Arms XCR 7.62 X 39 10 round pistol mags.

These mags legally hold 11 6.8SPC rounds...

Yes 2800fps - 2825fps with the 95gr TTSX 30grs H322 load above I do have a 1-11" twist spec 11 chamber though COAL is max that will fit in the mag the 110gr Prohunters and also 110gr TSX with 29grs H322 give me 2650fps.

I now also have a 23" T/C Contender carbine bull barrel in 6.8SPC it is a 1-10" twist saami spec chamber same loads are only slightly faster in the Contender with the 4 1/2" longer barrel than the XCR-L.

I am not getting as good of accuracy in the Contender barrel as I am from my XCR-L but I have only had the Contender barrel out twice now and need to work on seating depth and I would like to try AA2200.

Also I crimp all 6.8spc loads with a Lee factory crimp die.

for just punching paper the 6.8 can get a lil $$. even when reloading.
brass isn't that cheap, nor are there cheap bullets for it (compared to .223 where you can get 1000 for $120).

I picked up some factory 115 (?)gr remington open tip match rounds from a local store, and all the brass has a heavy crimp. Going to need to clean this up before you can reload it.

It's performance is nothing to wow the neighbors with, it's just got a little more bark.

like CC said, get yourself some lar15 7.62x39 mags. as for ammo, if you locate a source of cheap ammo, please let me know.

Question is what would the advantage of 6.8 SPC round be vs .223 round in a RESTRICTED AR platform that is limited by the fence of a shooting club?

I know! I Know!

NONE! zip zap none.

That being said, hell, it's a free country. One day it won't be restricted.
