6" electronic caliper on sale at CT

yes you can if you are talkin about the ct one. I recommend the source by circuit city and buy the warranty 3 replacements in 3 years on a battery that is gonna die for sure in 3 years.

F That...go to the dollar store and buy the 10 pack for $1 (I have 2 packs in my drawer)

They will last just as long and no having to go and return them.

Are these to the thousand of a inch(.001).
Yes, with a .0005 for the in between.

Don't get me wrong here. I am not bashing the CT calliper but don’t trust ANY calliper to give you an accurate measurement to half a thou. If you want that you will need a Vernier Micrometer.

That being said I have a CT Digital and a Starrett Digital. The CT is a little crude but hits the same measurement to +/- .001 of the Starrett which is pretty good for being 1/10th the cost.

Calipers

I am not a fan of digital calipers. For those that are just starting out get a Dial type caliper. 30$ china from KMS tools. Identical reading to the $$$ Mitutoyo. Learn to read the dial its not hard and it is for more reliable and consistant than the digital. Plus the thing is tough as nails (it is a measuring tool!) it has been rattelling around in my bush box on logging roads for 8 years, now it is on my loading bench. Replaced with the same model.
