Good day ladies and gentleman,

Let's start a Recipe book for everyone to post their winning recipes in 6mm / .243 family

First and foremost, there are a few things that need to happen here for this post to be successful.

1: We need to stick to a pre-established format.
2: We only post recipes. No congratulations, questions or any other posts than recipes.
3: Questions or congrats to posters about certain recipes to be directed via PM so it doesn't clutter the original post with things other than recipes.

One very important thing, a recipe that works in a firearm may not work in yours. When the recipe is HOT (close or above recommended amount of powder), work your way up to it. . This is serious stuff. It can cause catastrophic failure of your firearm or hurt you or someone. We are mostly all grown ups, let's use our heads if the recipe is hot. WORK UP TO IT.

Here's a format that seems to make sens.

Caliber:
Rifle brand:
Rifle Model:
Custom built:
Barrel length and twist:
Projectile brand, model and weight:
Powder brand and weight:
LOAD CONSIDERED HOT OR CLOSE TO MAX:
Primers:
Coal:
Ogive length:
Brass:
Brass length:
Distance to lands:

Results at 100, 200, 300 (whatever is available)

If available:
Velocity (average):
Outside temperature:
Wind and direction:
Barometric pressure and other relevant data:

Thank you very much everyone and let's make this a successful post for everyone that are getting into reloading a new caliber or are lost in the amount of options available in this caliber. This will also be awesome for anyone who's looking for a start point or simply improve their own recipe or try something else. It will also tremendously simplify the search and the amount of time spent on the search button option and the read through the hundreds of posts and irrelevant reading someone will have to go through in order to get a start point!

We all know that something that does wonders in someone's rifle may not work in someone else's rifle even if it is the exact same thing only a few different serial number away.

Once again, thank you everyone for your participation in this recipe and let's make it a go to for anyone who needs it.

I had to shorten oal as book spec was to long for this chamber. This load grouped at 7/8" on a very windy day.

UPDATE: I tried this same load today with much less wind to worry about and I got a .622" group and an average velocity of 3280 fps.
Here is a link to a picture of a 5 shot group.

Finalized some loads for 243 win using 85gr TSX and 90gr Nosler E-tip. Two different savage 10 rifles I cobbled together. 22" factory barrels 9.25 twist. H4350 with CCI BR2 lighting them up in Winchester cases.
Rifle 1: 85tsx 42.5gr H4350 outstanding sub moa groups @100m. 60 jump COAL 2.705. (load at 43.0 is starting to show pressure signs.) Should be an outstanding game getter.
Rifle 2: 90gr E-tip 41.5gr H4350 clover leaf cluster @100m. 30 jump COAL 2.700. (load at 42.0 is showing pressure signs) New to this load and bullet in the 243 and should be another great game getter.
Sorry no chrony data as if was acting up today.

Please notice these are well above published loads and my rifles practical max so as always...work up. However it appears those loads you read on the Hodgdon or Nosler site for these bullets are rather lawyered up for H4350 in my rifles.

Elkys 243s....

Have not ran through chronograph. ***NOTE : this was/is an accuracy load and will not fit in the magazine. Single load only. ***. Did see decent accuracy all through seating depth test. Worst five round group was 0.805” at 0.130” jump. Will be testing 95gr Berger Classic Hunters which will easily seat at magazine length or less.
