I got a tin's worth of it in a trade and am very pleased with it's performance. It is of chinese origin based on my research, sealed at both ends with what I assume is blood of the capitalist. It has been very accurate and reliable out of both my 91/30 and m44, although very dirty. I ordered a case from tradex hoping it would be the same stuff, it's 71/68 and have yet to fire it, and has no visible sealant. Does anyone know where I can buy more 61/67?

Chinese surplus from 60's would be the best for accuracy on par with any European x54r from that period. All comblock ammo was made to same specks and recipe.
However with some lots harder than usual primers were used or if it was not stored properly hard ignition was observed.
My lot came from S&B where they repacked, inspected and rebranded that ammo to 880 rds green crates. Inside ammo was just put in big plastic bag with desiccant.
At this point may be try a crate from Marstar, although it may be the same ammo as from Tradeex. Anyways it should shoot the same

I have the exact same story. I bought two crates of the 60's Chinese stuff from TradEx and it shoots great! Better than the much pricier Bulagarian silver tip I also have. The last crate I got from TradEx is not the same stuff. I think Marstar has the 60's stuff still and at a great price.

Perhaps this new lot from TradEx will be equally as good. I don't know as I haven't opened either tin yet.

The stuff I'm shooting came from westrifle a long time ago, according to the trader. Did westrifle ever sell chinese surplus, though? I'm down to my last 100 rounds!

On the left is the good stuff this post is about.
Middle is chinese 71/68 from tradex I have yet to fire.
Right is modern machine gun crap.

I bought lots of that Machine gun crap too. I think I bought 4 cases when it was $200 per 1000. It shoots reliably but it's not accurate at all. Now that I'm reloading I'm thinking I may pull a bunch apart and match bullet weights and level all the powder charges with my scale.

I can't buy 7.62X54r components to reload for $0.20 / round! Well I suppose I can if I cast my own bullets but I'm
thinking pulling the machine gun ammo apart and reassembling will actually end up being less work and get some nice high velocity match ammo out of it. ;)
