I am going to be purchasing a .357 Magnum sortly, as it is one of the few calibres that I don't have in a hand gun as of yet. I'm very pleased with my S&W 500, 460V, and 629, and am looking to add 627 PC or 627 V Comp to my collection. I am very unfamiliar with .357, having never shot one, or even know anyone that has one. If anyone has any experience with both or either of these two 627 revolvers, I would definitely appreciate any of your experiences. I'm not concerned with the cost, just ending up with the better revolver.

side by side, different finishes, V Comp has the compensator and full underlug which adds some weight and between those two would eat up more recoil if you're sensitive to recoil. the PC has wood grips, V Comp are the Hogue rubber. Other than that, seem to be the same action.
I love my two-tone (black melonite coat & natural stainless steel) 627 V-Comp. it's also very smooth and tames the 180gr magnums at special +P levels.
One thing though, when shooting lead bullets I remove the comp and mount the muzzle cap.

depends what you want the pistol for. If you want to shoot competitivly with it, the porting will move you into open classes. But you can't go wrong otherwise with either one. I have the PC and love it. If you shoot indoors, you may notice more noise/blast from the porting but i doubt it will make much difference with a handgun..(wish i could say the same about the guys with compensated AR's indoors)
