This gun is just PURE FUN to shoot. The finish is stainless steel bead blasted so it’s kinda porous. I shoot it a lot and I want to clean it quick. The picture I linked is after 100 rounds, I just wiped it down with a soft cloth. All the solvents behind is what I used in the past without any good success to remove all the carbon from the cylinder. Is there a better product to get the carbon off of the cylinder other than sonic cleaner?

Myself I removed the grips and use brake cleaner on all the surfaces for any stainless steel handgun in a well ventilated area. Hoppes 9 for the bore and any stubborn carbon spots front of cylinder and frame a pencil eraser.
You will have to slightly re-oil the internals.

I have tried all sorts of cleaners on my Smith 627. Nothing really breaks through that carbon.

Bronze wool and a bronze brush work well, along with some elbow grease. Check with a magnet to make sure its not coated in bronze.

Magic eraser works too but test it on an inconspicuous area first. I would stay away from the forcing cone and cylinder face.

A company (Birchwood-Casey?) used to make a cloth impregnated with a chemical to remove lead from barrels and I seem to recall that people had good luck using a patch of the cloth to removed carbon from cylinder faces. Be careful with non-stainless guns because I think it will also remove bluing.

Found it (made by 3 different companies): Remove the space in "ht tps"

I have used the cleanbore product for years cut a little square and a little elbow grease. Makes it look brand new. I have also heard that the cleaning solution sold for glass top stoves works well. Cerambrite or such. Can get it cheap to try at dollarama

Glad someone else is shooting 44mag. My S&W 629 has a Magna-ported barrel that really cuts down on recoil. However, the venting ports get layered with carbon & deposited lead.....

Off topic, but did you get it ported yourself? I've been looking everywhere for someone in Canada to do the same on my shorty 629.

Oh, and I use shotgun cleaner and a soft scotch brite pad to take carbon off the cylinder.
