I was just thinking - how many manufacturers and models that share basically the same design if we are talking Savage 64B? I have seen 40year old Cooey action and it looks practically identical to brand new Savage 64B, bolt, firing pin, receiver, barrel, not sure about magazine though but looks close. There are probably milions of those - why nobody makes aftermarket parts or tacticool dress up kits? Those would be perfect platform don't you think? I'd say better than 1022, at least one wouldn't need to buy bone stock 1022 only to strip it and invest at least equal amount into mods.

Magazines on the new and old 64bs are interchangeable. My father told me you used to be able to get 20rd magazines for them. Course, that could be BS.

I got some parts from savage last month and made what was a single shot 64b to a nicely cycling loaner .22 for my friends. Firing pin, extractor, ejector(?), magazine, and magazine assembly. All new in a older Sears 64b.

Winnipeg Toymaker also has a lot of them.
