Im looking into picking up another Anni. I plan on dropping it into a MDT chassis system. Using it for small groups, and maybe a silhouette competition or two. So obviously I will be just picking up a barreled action. I inquired about the price differentiation between the actions and ask what separated them by so much.

The short answer is that the 1903 is a based on the Anschutz 64 action and the 1907 is based on the 54 match action. The 64 is a great entry level (and up) action that has been around with Anschutz for a long time. The 54 action rifles are definitely a step up with a faster lock time, heavier receiver and a higher match grade trigger. It is a more refined action and is super smooth. (this is from Nordic Not me....)

Now Ive used the 64 action and trigger on the Tactical trainer. The action was smooth, I dont really notice lock time and the trigger was the best I had ever used (and lightest). I found that rifle amazing!
So I really dont think I can find a difference for myself in the 64 vrs 54 actions. I know there IS supposed to be a difference AND there are difference in the Specs. I dont think I could notice them.

They use the same barrel.

So I think my build just got a lot cheaper affording me the ability to go with the 54 action.

Y'all have seen the write up on the tactical trainer! I did love that gun. Time to go EVEN MORE TACTICAL with a semi custom (Im assembling it) build.

Stay tuned in the next couple of months.

WRT the 64 vs 54 ... surprised it wasn't mentioned that the 54 is a stronger action by virtue of its double locking lugs (perhaps three locking surfaces if you consider the top of the bolt 'nose' against the upper receiver) vs a simplified single bolt handle/locking lug for the 64. Reminds me of the differences between the Winchesters 69A/75 and the 52. I don't know the real life impact these differences have on the ultimate accuracy in a low pressure round like the .22lr but its comforting to know you are lying behind an action that will handle .222 Rem pressures when using a model 54 action. Personally I also like the threaded barrel/action union of the 69A etc. but I guess that's an entirely different story.

Should be fun! I got to try a friend's 1712 (54 action, silhouette rifle) and it is indeed one smooth, sweet action. I think you'll be able to tell the difference in the feel of operating the 54 action vs the 64, and depending on the trigger you get there are some that'll go much lighter than any trigger equipped on a 64 can do. The buck stops there, though, because accuracy wise it's the same old song and dance with rimfire. It's heavily dependent on the particular barrel you get (no special treatment for the barrels fitted to 54's so the playing field is even), the quality of the ammo you buy, and the pairing of ammo to your rifle. We tested a wide variety of ammo in my friends 1712, it was picky and didn't really shine with anything it was fed (typical of sporter barrels). It certainly showed potential as numerous tight groups were shot and it could do the 1/2" challenge, but I could put my 64 action Weatherby XXII up against it in competition and feel very good about my odds of winning. Off the bench and used for silhouette, it'd really come down to whichever rifle fits the shooter better.

I went a little off the deep end in pursuit of rimfire accuracy, first with a 455 custom and also put a Shilen on my 64 MSR. Tuner is in the mail for the Annie, as the naked barrel results thus far have me rolling my eyes at taking rimfire seriously for accuracy  I think I'd have been much further ahead to have just done up a 6.5 Creedmore build for what I've put into my rimfires, lol. Kinda like golf in a way, haha. Most of the time the shots are flying wild and we wonder why we do this... then every now and then it all comes together for that magical moment that keeps us coming back for more :)

There may be fans of the 64 with anecdotal evidence of high performance and there is Anschutz marketing promoting the 54 but objectively, as objectively as one can get, one has to only look what is used in International events to determine which action has the edge. Not everyone however is shooting to such high levels or even aspires to. The 54 and its variants is the better of the 2 actions. And the new 54.30 is arguably the best as it has features that make it more conducive to precision shooting.
Having said that there are better, even still, away from the Anschutz stable but let's stick to Anschutz.

I really like de 54’s eh but ya gotta chack out da new vudoo Gunworks precision rifles first eh?. Same quality de custom actions eh? and not mass produced, eh? Stankin accurate too dontcha know. Once maybe twice. Eh?

The vudoo gunworks rifles do seem like something special, but I think Mr Keeper is going with Annie. You see they`ve tangled before.
Just for fun OP. If you haven`t yet, Check out this site. I am not trying to hijack, or derail the thread in any way. It`just that your into nice guns.

Which barreled action are you thinking of using? Heavy barrel or sporter?

Likely heavy.

hahah I have definitely done the dance with Annie before. Dirty girl.

Assuming I would need IRUNGUNS or someone to import something like that?

A heavy barrel Anschutz and the MDT chassis = 1710 D HB barreled action. That should make a good combination.
Just as a side note, there was a fellow from Sweden posting on RFC who used the same barreled action with a GRS stock and he produced a very fine shooting rifle.

Hey CK~I'm blocking you and this thread. Your romance with the TT (and the resulting thread about it) cost me a fair amount of $. :) Can't have that happening on an even MORE expensive rifle. lol On a positive note, I did end-up with a new 64 MP R "Tactical Trainer" myself. I'll trust those who have owned/shot both when they say that the 54 has the edge...but I have a hard time imagining a nicer action/trigger than that 64.

I assure you that once you've tried the 54 action and the better triggers that come with it -- especially the 5018 trigger that can get down to 2.1 ounces -- you will be very pleasantly delighted.

Hahahah! Im sorry buddy!

I had my trigger under a pound and it was terrifying lmao

For off hand shooting I'd go with the 54. The quicker lock time makes a big difference. Not so much of the bench.

Especially for me the way the barrel moves around.:)

Yes, this definitely will not be an off hand shooting gun. It MAY make it out to drop a couple of tree rats but I dont need lock time for that lol.

I am pretty sure a Voodoo gun works rifle would have to be brought in by someone like that.

I was looking into it. It starts to get me up into the 4-5 grand area for the full build, import, optics ect.

I should be able to keep an Annie build under 3 grand.
