640KA Chuckster 22 WMR Magazines

I picked up a pair of Mossberg 640KA's in 22 mag last night at the gunshow that are missing magazines. I see that it is possible to order a 640 specific mag out of the US, but was hoping to find a more local source or use a Savage model 93 mag which I have read can be massaged to work.

Has anybody had any recent experience either purchasing or adapting mags for these rifles?

try Western Gun Parts in Edmonton-they generally have a good supply of obsolete/after market mags...or Numrich stateside as a second choice...
 
I picked up a 93 series Savage mag at CTC in the falls and with both rifles it would feed four of the five rounds without issue. The magazine was not engaging far enough in to the mag guide to allow the bolt to hit the top of the rim on the last round. I adjusted this by filing the top of the guide metal on the back of the mag fitting it to allow feeding with one rifle only to find out that this was too much for the other gun which resulted in the mag lips putting excessive pressure on the bolt and binding it. I'm still not sure the angle is correct on the follower to get the last round chambered (i was testing using spent casings in the basement and its raining out), but at least its a workable and cost effective solution to resurrecting a couple of fine old rifles.
