Well, while reassembling my S&W 686 after cleaning it I went to put the crane screw back and after two turns the screw bounced out at me. It would no longer thread in. After close inspection and side plate removal I found that the bottom two threads had cracked off. I was able to unscrew them from the frame with just my fingers so I know it wasn't from over tightening. My question is will smith send me a replacement? Or will i have to just buy one. And are they a normally stocked item? I've already emailed Al Flaherty (point of purchase in 2013) to see what they suggest, but being Sunday night I figured why not ask the all knowing internet lol.
