6940 or Tavor

If you're going to be using it for service rifle comps, where a 1 MOA difference is important, go for the Colt. Otherwise, I'd go for the Tavor.

Depends on what you want to get out of your new rifle. The Tavor definitely has the non-restricted angle going for it....but then again if ARs are more your bag and you only shoot at a range maybe the Colt is a good choice.

From my perspective, an AR is an AR. The Tavor is something new and personally I would like to experience it. The resale value will be higher for the Tavor as well as the demand. Everyone can use a non-restricted rifle, not everyone has or can use a restricted AR so you would be limiting your resale audience if you went with the Colt.

Sure there are still the die hard Colt fans and cool aid drinkers, but I think most will simply view it as just another AR as oppose to something they MUST have...and this is coming from a long time AR user!

One of the other features that put the Tavor ahead of the Colt is definitely the ability to have a full size rifle's characteristics in a very compact package. As mentioned above, the Tavor is sporting a rifle length barrel in a carbine size package. This means it will have a greater range and accuracy as well as more punch out of the small 5.56mm round then a shorter barrel would.

Just my opinions.

From what I read the Tavor's around 2 moa. I know the Colt's still no precision rifle but I would expect something closer to 1 moa. Am I wrong?

I think what you've heard about the Tavor being 2 moa has more to do with the supplied optics than the gun. If you put both guns into a vice or used similar optics I'm sure you would find both to be very accurate.

If I was going into combat.. id take the colt. If I were going to the range definatly the tavor. And like Specfire said... you change the optics and it will be deadly.

just wondering whe sight on the tavor is that bad? I mean I know that the first ones that came in canada had a 5.5 MOA sight on it but the new ones should come with a 1moa bulleye with it. Any other reason why its bad?

If I remember the meprolight m21 sight was around 800$ retail.

If you are engaging in service rifle like shooting activities with traditional shooting positions - TAVOR is great for the fixed length of pull, that is almost like the M16A2.

If you want to shoot like Chris Costa (hahaha), you might appreciate an adjustable stock and faster mag change with the conventional layout.

I think the Tavor had such a crappy sight b/c the Israelis were trying to dump the optics and you had to buy the Tavor with the sight.

The Tavor is a 21st century combat rifle. Good ergonomics although the mag changes will be slightly slower due to the bull pup design. It's a piston system from the ground up, takes AR mags and is non restricted. Also it's a current combat arm that was designed to replace the AR.

The new sights have a 1 moa dot in the centre like the Eotech. I was planning on putting an Eotech on it anyways. We'll see how it works out. If it does work then this package is a good deal.

A fixed LOP is crap. The offset is insane as well. The only thing going for the Tavor is the non res status.

My Tavor works great with my Eotech. Mag changes are not bad at all, you just have to get used to it. If you're right handed, all rifle manipulation should be done with the left hand, keeping your rifle on target.

I will be installing an Eotech magnifier to go with it. CGNer Dook has that setup and apparently it rocks. Someone had posted a while back Tavor targets using various grainages, the one struck me the most was the 77gr Black hills 5.56 used in the Tavor, it had the best results. The groups were MOA and some sub constantly. I wish I could find those pics.
