So my barrel is here and will be getting worked on soon. The question is should i have it finnished to the full 28 inch lenth or have it cut down some to handle better? This is my first build so tell me why you think what you think. I would like to keep velocity up as they shoot lighter bullets but for hunting a shorter barrel could be handyier. This all assumes i am allowed to mix it up at this point. The gun will be 50/50 range/hunt. I can live with more issues hunting if range time will suffer. Thanks guys.

Leave it at the full 28"...then after 3000-4000 rounds you can get it cut/rechambered and get some more life out of it and still have a 26" in barrel or so!

It will shoot fine no matter what length you go, but think about a second barrel you can swap out for hunting. BTW the 105 hunting VLD's from a 6BR have taken many of my deer, it is a fine little hunting cartridge.
