If you just use a 22-250 reamer, it will only accept 22-250's.

I chamber with a 22-250 reamer for headspace and then finish with a separate 6mm neck and throat reamer.

...and they work in most 308 magazines...

cool thanks...what do you think of the 6mm 250 over the 243??or 243AI??

I am building a 6mm(1/8 twist or maybe 1/7.5 twist) something on a 700action and I want to run a AICS Mag kit or a V-Bull Mag kit so the AI is most likley out...

I want to shoot 115DTacs or 107/115 Bergers VLD's maybe Moly around 2900FPS

6mmBR.com for all the info on these wildcats. Also, look at the forum section. There are a variety with performance info.

Unless you are planning a long barrel or willing to run 'BR' pressures, stick with the 243 or AI.

For What!!! Hunting or target shooting? What distances?

If it's the later a 6/250 done right and in the right hands will do fine right out 1000 yards. I shot one for almost two seasons. If you're only going to say 600 yards... it's really good! at 800/900/1000 you've got to work a lot more in the wind/mirage department as in making better or excellent calls. Depending on your style as in bipod vs rest, on a rest you can free-recoil as the recoil is very light, very manageable. It's got more poop than the 6BR and isn't as pressure up back at the 1000 yard line. I was using 105 Lapuas & 107 Seirras. Didn't get a chance to drive the 115s which would give you a little heavier bullet weight against the 6.5... otherwise you're dealing with approx. 1/3 less weight and that can get you into trouble when the winds up... back to making good calls.

I'll probably chamber it up again, nothing wrong with a 6/250... you can get some pretty good specs, details and loads on 6mmbr.com as Jerry mentioned...

btw who's doing 1:7.5 twists barrel wise?

1:8 would be the minimum I'd try... did try... I'd have to check what might be needed with the 115s OTH faster just might be better possibly a little more stable.

mine was 30" barrel length...

hunting and target but Targets first wolves second

will use a 30" tube barrel maybe http://www.bartleinbarrels.com/calibers.htm

or a Schneider I want to go with a canadian barrel maker but no one is making a 1/7.5 twist

it looks like it could have a better barrel life too

My pov is from target shooting only... 30" would seem long, rig would weigh more unless you plan on not moving about... but wolves do, lighter light be better and you've got the distance thing.

I was curious about the twist cause I don't know anyone here chambering that twist...

Schneider I know, got one pffft! The other never heard of it, don't know who's using it...

You should have a look at the 6-6.5X47 Lapua. I am building one on a savage 12 LRPV action with a 5P Schneider barrel. From what I have read it looks like it will produce about 3200 fps with the 105 and 107 gr bullets.

The 7.5 twist isn't needed is why it is hard to find one...

If your 6mm choice is TARGET first I would highly recommend the 6mm BR set up for unturned Lapua brass. It doesn't get any better.

The 8 twist will easily handle the 107 Sierra, one of the best cheap bullets available for the 6mm....

The reasons the 6-250 retained any following had more to do with feeding for across the course rifles than anything else. 6 BR's just don't feed that well. In addition, the 6-250 will manage slightly better velocities than the BR or do the same at slightly lower pressures.
I personally feel one should use a 6BR if loading singly (as for an "F" class rifle) or 6mm Remington if you want more capacity. The "in betweeners" just don't appeal to me. Regards, Bill.

Why do you need a 1:7.5 twist? I find it hard to belive that at the velocity level those bullets will be travelling that you'll notice any kind of measurable difference in .5" over the 1:8. I think you're worrying about nothing.

most of the US shooters are shooting 1./7.5 twist with the 115grDTacs and the Berger 115VLD

I will go with the plain Jane 243 with a 1/8 barrel I will start with a 30" Heavy varmint blank

I will try to get 2900/2950 with the 107MatchKing I wll also try the 115Dtac and Berger for ####s and giggles who know maybe they will work very good!!

now to shoot moly or not.....
