What are the pro and cons of case forming between the 6MM AI and the 6-284...

I understand for the 6-284 it's simplest to run 6.5-284 brass thru the die and you're ready to go.
As for 6MM AI it seems fireforming is required...so can you simply run R-P or Winchester 6MM brass thru the die, work up a mid-high range 6MM load and shoot em up at gophers and firefroming is done?

Any advice or knowledge of the two cartridges would be appreciated.

6mm AI could be the easiest. Just fire standard 6mm cartridges, and you're done. That is assuming it is a proper AI chamber, and factory rounds chamber with slight contact at the neck/shoulder junction. Velocity will be marginally reduced, but accuracy should not suffer.
6-.284 would require sizing before loading, of course.

tiriaq,

How about if I have both the 6MM dies and the 6MM AI dies???

Would you still load them as a 6MM round and fire thru the AI chamber or would you run the brass thru the AI die first and then shoot.

The AI die will only necksize a standard 6mm case. If you are starting with new 6mm brass, seat bullets with either die. If it is once fired factory brass, you could use either sizing die. Just make sure that when you close the bolt on an empty case, you feel a slight crush as the case neck/shoulder area contacts the chamber. This will insure that the casehead is against the boltface for fireforming. Don't FL size in a standard die to the point that the case is loose in the AI chamber.
