I've got a WK180 in 5.56 and I love it. It's been dead reliable and it's exactly how I want it. However the thought struck me, it would be nice to have another caliber upper for longer range deer, plinking or possibly antelope/ pigs. 6mm ARC fits the bill in my mind. Can I buy a regular AR-15 Barrel and Barrel Nut? Should I use an adjustable gas system? How do I deal with the larger Bolt Face requirement?

Thanks much. This will be my first attempt at something like this, any info is appreciated.

I don't own a WK180, but have looked into doing the same with an ACR. From what I can research, it uses a standard AR barrel and barrel nut so if you can find a 6mm arc barrel that is a straight swap. ###### Armoury sells them and ships to Canada. Your problem is going to be the bolt face because I believe it is proprietary to the WK. Meaning your only option is if they make a 7.62 bolt face you can take it to a gunsmith and have them open it up for you. Issues with that is that bolts are surface hardened and your bolt is most likely to have a failure at some point. Like I said I don't own one so I might be wrong on some of this.

You need to source a 6 ARC barrel with the correct gas system length (carbine if a gen 1 WK180) or source a piston of the correct length to match the length of gas system the barrel is drilled for (most 18"+ barrels will be setup for rifle length gas). Then you need a bolt with the correct face for 6.5 Grendel/6 ARC which I believe TNA makes.
