Who said anything about competing in F-class, except you? Who said anything about VLD bullets except you? This thread is about neither, it is about the OBT. There are some very respected people (Bill, Joe) posting about the OBT, who know the history intimately, and the people behind it, and even have rifles chambered in it! I think this is the type of information the OP was looking for.

I don't think it is too much to ask that you not go off topic (twice in the same thread...) and turn this thread into a sales pitch for VLD bullets. You can take comfort in the notion that everybody in the Precision forum already knows you have VLD bullets for sale.

BTW, it will come as a shock to the following clubs that BR score shooting is not around anymore: Campbell River, Mission in 2010, Elmira, Listowel, Twin City, Sherbrooke.

The original post. Had nothing to do with BR or F class or any form of competition. It was about a wildcat and a rifle built by a very talented gunsmith.

"Is it worth buying?" was his second post question. And then there were posts on the action and so forth

So my points about application are just as valid as yours. It is not a sales pitch as you have mentioned. It is my sharing of my experiences in one form of shooting that the OP might consider using this rifle for.

From that point of view (valid by the way), it isn't. If he wishes to participate in the matches you have listed (great news by the way - nice to see a new venue in BC for 2010) and there is a class that fits the rifle, that would be fantastic.

If he just wants it as a wonderful piece of the gunsmith art, that would be worth the price too.

Somedays, it is hard to believe that someone might just share information WITHOUT trying to flog a product.

The only thing that would make this rifle unsuitable for "F" class is that it is on the light side for comfortable shooting. One just can't compete with 18 to 20 pound rifles using a ten pound rifle.
The barrel is probably a 14 twist since this rifle was probably assembled prior to the very slow twist and light bullet movement. So it will shoot 168's just fine and work well out to 600 metres.
There is always the option of fitting it with an ugly bolt knob, a 1 1/2 pound scope mount, a Nightforce scope with huge objective, painting it green and calling it a tactical rifle! Of course, it would have to be rechambered to 308 to be acceptable. Regards, Bill.
