6mm Remington and the left handed rifle variety

My search for a left handed 6mm rem has come to an ugly stand still. Following every possible lead and all I came up with was a 788 with a rusted barrel.... So my question is, we're any other rifles ever chambered in 6mm rem for us left handed shooters? Or just the 788? I've always been a big fan of the 6mm over the 243, so I believe I'll try and stick it out to find one.... And to add, what do all the other 6mm shooters like or dislike about the cartridge or their rifle?
 
Likely the 788 will outshoot most other out of the box rifles. I sold a minty LH 788 in 6mm about 4 months ago. Just finished pillar bedding a RH 6mm 788 for a friend this am. A 788 can be barreled with a take-off 700 barrel so if the rusted one is cheap enough? Harold
 
Buy a used left hand 700 rifle (standard long action) and have a new match grade 8 twist barrel installed... it doesn't get any better... the 6mm Rem needs a long action anyway.
 
One thing to keep in mind regarding the LH 788 is that only the bolt was moved to the left side. The ejection port and safety lever remain on the RH side.

guntech's advice is solid. It's a straightforward job for a good smith. And,...you can get exactly what you want.
 
I'd actually find a donor tikka m65 or m695 and the. Re barrel that. By the time I get the bottom metal for a 700 it'll be over 1000$ into the action, plus the barrel, plus the stock.... I've seen the 788, just the LH bolt, they seem interesting. I guess I'll keep looking and maybe find one soon....

Zastava still offers it as a factory chambering but it would probably be a special order for Canada. And ill echo the suggestion to use long action for a custom. My 6mm us a rem 700 bdl varmint and the sa mag box is really limiting as far as seating depth is concerned
 
The one on gunnutz a month back or so had a rusted out barrel and the guy still wanted 550$ for the action and stock.... I've seen just the rifles in good condition go for the same price.... I agree with the long action statement. I also plan on building a left handed 250-3000 sav ai in a long action, just so I can seat my bullets long!
 
I had one built on a long lh 700. David Henry did the work, very pleased with the results. My first time using a Benchmark barrel, won't likely be the last.

^^ This ^^ ...... I did the same thing only it was a 257 Roberts on a RH action. That way you get exactly what you want.
 
That's what I was thinking or if you must have a custom and efficiency the wildcat .250 Humdinger . Based on a minimum body taper 45 degree shouldered.243 case. Exceeds factory 25-06 in a 23" barrel and fits a SA handily.........Harold
 
Sadly, I'm dead set on the 250-3000 ai. If a short action will fit the bullets I want, I'll go with that. I actually always wanted it in a savage 99.... But j believe the bolt gun would be more accurate.... Who knows!
 
All the 99's I've owned were 1/2 " shooters with handloads...find a 99A they had a 1-10 twist.....Harold

Gotta be a bolt gun? Ruger chambered the Number 1 single shot in 6mm.

They are out there.
