After waiting patiently for a 6mm 1-8" twist 30" finished length, Hvy Palma contour Brux barrel. PTD/ David Kiff custom reamer in 6X47 Lapua, Redding S Dies, Lapua 6.5x47 brass from Hirsch. Used a new Rem 700 SPS action, EGW 25MOA base, Warne rings. Leupold M*-12x scope, Rem. VS/HS precision stock.
Got the barreled action home saturday night, tuned the trigger , mounted the base and scope.

Put together a couple of test loads to try out the new toy!
Sunday AM -27c...........................Patience be damned, braving frost bitten fingers and other various body parts. I just had to see what it shot like. Will get serious as the temperatures rise, this up coming spring. Looks like some bedding may be in order.
Of the two groups shot even with a called flyer from a frozen trigger finger averaged .615" I'm sure with some warmer temps and some minor load tuning sub 1/2MOA will be easily done.

What is your lead weight and powder loads ,as i'm looking to get a 6.5 as well. I was thinking around 130 gr Berger. It's hard to find starting and max load for the 6.5. If you could help out that would be great

Cold temps are good for fireforming as it keeps the barrel cool, but I always found it difficult also to get tight groups when your fingers and body temp are cold.

Tried a couple of loads on Saturday, a balmy -11c along with wind gusts. Still no where near ideal conditions but very satisfying. Best group was .401" with 39gr. H4350, CCI450, Berger 107gr VLD. Still fireforming brass and not bedded yet. No groups over .750". Most likely be able to get the groups down to avg. mid .300's under ideal conditions.
Will post a few pics in the next couple of days.

Try some Sierra and Lapua 107grs too. I've found Bergers can be inconsistent, lot to lot. One can be extremely accurate and horded for important matches where others are so-so.

Nice caliber and case choice BTW. Bedding the rifle even in an HS stock will also help to mate the action to that stock and make it more consistent. It also eliminates any variable when troubleshooting problems if they happen.
