I was reading and watching youtube on forming 243 brass into 6.5 creedmoor.Looks pretty simple but I have a bunch of 7-08 brass so I tried the same method.I had to set my hornady die down quite a bit to push the shoulder down but after sizing it a little at a time it seems to fit the chamber good. I am thinking of buying some Lapua brass in 260 rem or 243 win . Has anyone did this with the Lapua brass and how did it work out.
Cheers

7-08 to 6.5 Creedmore, or 260, 243 even 308 any of these can be used. The case neck thickness will change when pushing the shoulder back, I would turn necks down to 0.012 thickness not a fun job BUT may improve accuracy.

I just fire formed some Lapua 308 Palma ( Small Rifle Primer)Thought I'd try some just to compare. I already run the converted Lapua 308 and I like it.

You will have to neck turn though.

I Measured the neck on the 7-08 finished case and it was .0001 more than the hornady brass . I fired 6 of them and they shot very well.I am going to try the fire formed again and see if the group tightens up . I think its going to be awhile before I can get the creedmoor brass in Lapua so going to order Lapua 260 rem brass.
Thanks for the reply's.

Shot the fireformed today and they shot about the same as the pre - fireformed ones. Measued case capacity on the fireformed federal brass and the hornady brass and the hornady holds 3.3 more grains of water, not sure if that will amount to much difference but it was fun playing around with them.
