Went to the range today to try some different bullets more suited to moose than the 140 Ballistic tips which make such pretty cloverleafs out of my rifle. Anyway:.

First I tried the federal 140 partitions. Grouped 4-5.5"
Then I tried the 140 fail safes....and this is where it gets weird. Horzontal spread: 3/8" Vertical spread: 5.75"! I cant figure that one out at all. Nice holes, one on top of the other, with no rhyme or reason, some high, some low, no particular order.

Anybody know who stocks the federals with the 140 accubonds? Or...anybody wanna re-load some of my brass with the 139 TSX's I'm hearing so much about;)

I have three suggestions.
1. Check for scope ring / base tightness.
2. Check for barrel forend contact.
3. Remove the action from the stock and make shure there is nothing under
the recoil lug.

Has anybody other than yourself shot this rifle with the Failsafes?

Finding an accurate load is pricey when you use factory ammo but sometimes you have to experiment more than other times, don't forget that you are using top quality ammo and it would be expensive to load even if you handload.

I think its obviously a mech. prob. after shootinf\g such a good group something has weakened or gone amiss.. tighten up your action screw, then your scope and rings and report back

See my $70 screw thread

Dude, I don't want to hear about your experiences with hookers...

Does the gun STILL manage tight groups with the other load?

Is the barrel floated, and if so, how much clearance is there?

And of course, insert obligatory <"wow, you really need to get into reloading"> comment here
