Wondering if anyone has any info on cartridge length, both maximum and minimum? I bought some factory ammo and the overall cartridge lengths are all over the place. Longest cartridge is 2.994 inches with the shortest being 2.875. The average length seems to be 2.980 inches for the majority of the cartridges. I see some reloading data showing maximum overall length is 3.04-3.05. I have 19 cartridges at 2.970 inches or less. Thanks for any help.

Have to remember that the bullets can vary length from base to metplat since they use multiple dies to form the bullets that go into any lot number, unless, possibly, they are expensive/custom match bullets or GP11. That's why people use comparators that measure from the ogive which bypasses the tip length issues.

Gp11 is in the 3.04"± area but their bullets are very different from all other American bullets except the Berger VLDs.
That said I did notice a lot from 1986 that was 3.00" Can't remember which month.

Important when loading for a K31.

The ammo was made by Sellier and Bellot. I am concerned with finding some of the bullets seated noticeably deeper than the majority in the box. Not sure if it is safe to shoot. It all fits in the magazine nicely, chambers fine and extracts. Anymore info or experience is appreciated. Thanks for the replys so far.

Maybe different bullets with different ogives hence the different seating depths,I'm sure the would be safe to shoot.

S&B usually makes very good ammo.
They are my go to for commercial European ammo. There might be a slight issue with yours, but safety not a concern.

If using in a K31, just make sure they chamber easily and you don't have to use extra force to close the bolt.
Do you reload?

Do not take the OAL seriously for a K31, too long for most bullets! Ok for 96/11, 1911 and K11
