I wish more people would be interested in reloading the 7.62x39 and perfecting their loads.
123gr SST seated and roll crimped to cannelure.
H4198 powder 25.5gr in Winchester brass.
2350 fps from a 18.5" barrel.
I tried the Dominion D4198 powder as an alternative and it was overpressure and caused violent overgassing in my semi-autos. Might be ok to work up a load with this economy powder in a bolt-action though.
Lots of gel tests on youtube if you want to see the performance, quite deadly.
I would keep shots under 200yds as the bullet may not perform at lower velocities and it doesn't go as fast as a conventional hunting cartridge like a .308 or .30-06.
yes. It's snapier than the IMR 4198, but less than the PPU and Barnaul 123g. I felt that the factory loads were hotter.Nice! That's great shooting. How's the BLK load feel? that must be pretty snappy.
Sure can't complain about the accuracy and they seem like really good game bullets.

Haven't shot this #5 load again yet. Hope it's not a fluke.

Not a recipe, but added for interest. This rifle seems to be a shooter in it's short time here.

Not a fluke. My SST load shoots under half an inch consistently. I found the SST 123g is the most accurate for my cz 527.
I feel the same, but u have accepted it.I like that little rifle, but not crazy about that big mag sticking down right where I would carry it in one hand.
