are you finishing the crowns of these barrels at 18.5 or 18.75?
While I'm not disagreeing with you Savage.
I do not feel that cutting a 5/8x 20 thread, onto a customer's barrel with a diameter of 9/16 at the 18.75 mark (prethreading) is an acceptable risk to my liability insuranceI know it does work....... but my machinist and myself settled on 1/2 x 28 and it works..... and there are LOADS of choices of flash hiders and muzzle brakes out there for the AR , that can be adapted to the norc barrel this way.
Giving the consumer another Canadian made option to choose from is what it's all about.
18.75 I haven't run into any issues with the barrels they are are properly crowned it is a personal choice as to which thread to use though. In the end it is the machinists call if there is a problem he will let me know I have done both USGI and 1/2x28 and I own one in each thread pattern,
It is nice that there are more Canadian manufacturers supplying parts for these rifles as parts like the M14 SEI vortecs are near impossible to import or find here
It is especially nice that there is now a dedicated business set up that will look after our needs
