I recently purchased a Brno Mauser chambered in 7.62 mm. It has a winter trigger guard, turned down bolt handle, sling, and a 3 digit serial number on the receiver & bolt handle. The foresight doesn't look military & has a white bead. Does this sound right for an Israel rebuilt rifle? Can anyone tell me anything about this rifle? It's in very good condition, and I realize it doesn't have a lot of value to a collector, but it appealed to me. I'm hoping it's a shooter. Any info appreciated.

Does it look something like this?

Sight is likely a replacement. I don't think the Israelis made new sights for the rifles, unless your sight has simply been painted.

I have one that someone put a sporting rifle bead sight on. They probably did it to get the rifle to shoot lower.
I replaced it with an original Mauser taller front sight and good to go.
Mine is just a shooter in any case and does it well.

The Israeli's did make new sights but they are identical to the original German K98k sights. It sounds like the front sight has been replaced. Hopefully the sight base hasn't been modified and it should be an easy fix to restore it back to original.

How about some pictures op? These are collectible and usually good shooters.
