can't find any 7.62 nagant reloading data on the internet.

anyone care to share?

i have the following components:
- Lee 7.62 Nagant 3-die set (7.62 Nagant FL sizer, 32-20 seater). yes, i know the shell holder is for 32-20, and i need to find one that fits the Fiocchi 7.62 Nagant Brass.
- 98 gr TMJ DEWC.
- Fiocchi 7.62 Nagant Brass.
- H-110.
- Winchester small pistol primers.

things i am interested in knowing are: powder charge, bullet depth, and how much do i need to crimp the case mouth (so that the catridge mouth easily enters the chamber when the hammer is cocked).

Thanks!

Your shell holder will work it just needs to have the lips opened up a touch (small dremel tool worked perfect for me) I am loading with 6g of H110 down from my original of 8g.Find it shoots as accurately as I can hold and the cases pretty well slide out when the revolver is tipped up. Now seating that can be a bugger I seat the bullets to flush with the case by removing my seating die and then running the case up against a plug threaded into my press (originally I used some flat stock spanning the press but found it easier to make a plug after a while) Now with the seating die back in the press run the cartridge up while slowly turning the die in (lower) and through some trial and error you should be able to get the bullett down into the case approx 1/64 of an inch. This will also cause the crimp above the bullett as is factory. Dont be surprised if some of the cases buckle at the perforated line at the mid-point and dont be alarmed if not all the bulletts seat down in the case I wil get maybe 2-3 out of 10 that do not seat down in but have never had a problem with firing them . Once you get that Nagant shooting you will be amazed at what that old russian will do.

Don't you have reloading data with your lee dies?

I recieved no data with my dies either. I have used 32/20 brass with no problems other than case necks splitting after about 3 reloads and I had to thin the rims of the brass. Of course there is no gas seal with 32/20 and there is a fair bit of spitting from cylinder/barrel gap. With the factory 7.62x38 I ran into several problems. The first being the shell holder that came with the dies would not accept the Nagant case so I had one machined up. Then the seating stems dia. was to large so I had to turn it down. Now came the real problem of crimping. I was using the Nagant bullets from TRADEX which required me to expand the case mouth to seat bullet. The bullets seated nice and snug and I set them 1/16" below case mouth. Then I put a roll crimp over bullet (just enough so case would chamber properly when cylinder was cammned all the way forward) After the crimp was applied I would loose the tension on the case to bullet which would allow the bullet to easily drop down on top of powder NOT a good thing! I screwed around way to long and cold not get this problem solved and still have not figured it out.
I did have some 90 gr. cast bullets at .311 dia. that I just loaded up with 3gr. of HP 38. what I did do was once I had the crimp done I ran the loaded round into a 7.62x25 seater die which gave me a tighter bullet to case fit. Have not tried these loads out yet but I will.
I will say this has been the most challenging reloading project I have tried.

muzzle flash, i've been thinking that since you are using 32-20 cases (1.315"), and the OAL of a 7.62 Nagant os 1.52", you are allow to seat the bullets sticking out a bit, in order to make it 1.52", right? maybe this will also help better chambering when camming forward?

With the 32/20 brass I had no chambering issues due to the brass being shorter. It was when I started trying to load the actual 7.62x38 brass that I was having trouble. Your thoughts on seating the bullets out more is exactly what I did with the cast bullets in the 32/20 brass. The seated cast bullets in the 32/20 brass were seated out 1/4" above case neck. Now with the factory 7.62x38 brass I was trying to duplicate the seating depth and crimp of the factory bullet. It would appear that once I placed the crimp on the factory brass with the actual seated Nagant bullet I would loose my case neck tension due to the brass being pushed around springback or something. With the cast pill being 3 thou. larger dia. and running the loaded round into the 7.62x25 seater die I had more than enough neck tension. I hope this works because I have destroyed enough of the Nagant brass.
