7.62 NATO $ keeps creeping UP

Every month I slide by the HACS burnaby gunshow to pick up some 7.62 amd every month it keeps going up! This time had to settle for 140 for $65 for SA. Shizzle my snizzle.....
Anyway, got the stuff home opened it up and it STUNK terrible - kind of heavy oil/organic solvent/salt. And I don't mean " mmm smells a little odd...", I mean " jesus, I gotta bag this stuff up before the dog passes out!" Have shot many countries' 7.62 NATO but never smelled like this. Anyone else noticed this? Purple/black primer sealant is flaking off....hard to see in picture because had to hold my breath to take it!

It smells because the early 80's SA used wooden boxes and tins coated with creosote. They switched to plastic cases later.

I decided not to say anything when the guy told me it was STANDARD cost for 7.62nato surplus.

The ammo oracle here for .308 will provide you with a dozen suppliers that will sell you the same thing for cheaper.
