7.62 Nato?

This will sound pretty slack but is there a difference between 30-06 and 7.62x63mm NATO? I was told that certain mausers (maybe because of pressures) could not fire the later. Is this true? Is there a difference?

"...7.62x63mm NATO..." No such thing. The .30-06 has never been a NATO standard round. 7.62x63mm is just the metric designation.

7.62 NATO is 7.62x51 aka 308 Winchester.

Also note that 7.62x63 (.30-'06) is related to 7.92x63 (8mm-'06) but unrelated to 8x63 Swede (...marstar.ca/ammo/792x63mm.htm)
