I put an order in last month at Le Baron for a case.

Picked it up today for $206.00 plus tax... They are Romainian made and to my delight.. they are brass cased shells with steel jacketed bullets.:)

Now I have to get some reloading dies to make use of the 1320 brass cases.

I just got my ammo from trade ex and it was brass ammo as well made in ukraine..
I'm guessing they are all steelcores but anyone know if any of these new(?) surplus ammo are not steelcore? I want to shoot steel targets with surplus ammo lol

Not to rain on your parade but I would venutre a guess that the cases are Berdan primed--and will be a real pain in the ass to reload. Round up some commercial cases if you are loading for a bolt action--otherwise just keep a case of surplus ahead for fun.

Havent checked yet but youre prolly right.

From a hobby point of view, could I drill a hole in the centre of the primer pocket and make it a boxer primed?..

Yup, likely berdan.

At that price what's the point of reloading even if boxer.

For precision bolt rifle you want better quality cases.

If you drill for boxer you'll likely end up with three holes or an extra enlarged single hole. The large rifle primer may also not fit. I don't think they are the same size. Either too tight or too loose.

Good to see normal price for this ammo again. I paid 180 for it in 2011 for apprx 1200 rounds. Then the next time I went in, it was 250 before taxes. There is a lot of this ammo, and it's STILL being used across the world. I thought the 80 dollar / crate increase was certainly the dealers idea.

I've bought 4 cases of this now, due to this fair price.

Yup.. dealers cry theres a shortage and raise prices when the last few crates are left, and they cant get any for a while..= shortage.:p

I paid 300 for a case of 1400 a few weeks ago :(

I picked up 2 cases from lebaron on thursday and was going to go again friday but i decided to leave some for the next guy, i dont want to be "that guy".

Can the guys who got brass cased ammo post the markings on their case? (or better yet pictures)
I'm trying to figure out if there are any particular markings that identify the ammo inside.

So far I've noticed 29kg vs 30kg and GS vs GL on the side, I suspect the numbers/letters on the side are date codes.

x2

anyone shoot/pull a bullet yet?

Its Berdan primed (pic is not mine)

Is it really that hard to get out the berdan primers? Water and wooden dowel? Doesn't RCBS make a kit for depriming?

Budget sells berdan primers for 5c each by the thousand. Considering 7.52x39 brass is 45 cents each - isn't it worth a try?

I think its worth a try when I get time to do it. Reloading maybe the only way to tighten group sizes with the x39 SKS. In the mean time, brass cases are good to have.:)
