7.62 x 39 Mil Surp & Bolt Sportster Rifle....

So, I have a swack of eastern bloc mil surp & Wolf ammo locked up in a cabinet downstairs and have a CZ paper weight on my hands, unless I want to arrange a "range day" and thats a little bitter pill to swallow considering the crown land starts 5 minutes from the house......

I haves a CZ 527 in .223 coming from P.H. anyday and if that has form and function like my other CZ sporting arms ( older tho ) is their 7.62 X 39 carbine a reasonable alternative for all this corrosive ammo with a dillegent cleaning routine? Don't really want another semi as I like the accuracy / fool proofness of a bolt action, so as appealing as some of the SKS prices are, not really on the menu.... All I'm wondering is a modern setup good enough to get put away for a day or 10 after shooting (my work schedule is very unpredictable) and then dealt with a thorough cleaning. The longest I get called out for is ten days....

I wouldn't chance it. It only takes a few minutes to pour boiling water down the bore and clean a bolt-action properly.

Wolf ammo is sold as commercial ammunition, so perhaps somewhere on the box it says noncorrosive. If it doesn't say so, assume the worst. Even if the ammo is non corrosive, cleaning with soapy hot water won't hurt provided you patch it dry, then run an oily patch down the bore and patch it out.

I have a Zastava M85 for sale on the EE and have fired all of the 7.62x39 bolt guns.

If you shoot corrosive they need to be cleaned the same day you shoot them, period.

They weren't designed to shoot steel case corrosive ammo, it's hard on them, the lacquer builds up and the accuracy is ####.
