They were prohibited but never examined for classification so far its still under review.

I don't have a 7.62x39 but I have a 5.56x45/6.8SPC XCR and I can't recommend them enough. It's a solid, easy to use and maintain rifle with easy optics mounting options. If the AK was designed in 2007 instead of 1947 it would be an XCR.

Ian at herron has/had the bolts on order a while ago, It is a caliber I am considering for my ACR just for fun and to keep ammo costs down over the 450.
