I used to be afraid of the corrosive boogeyman until I realized it really wasn't a big deal, and avoiding it limited my access to a plethora of cheap surplus that would provide hours of shooting time.
Do you know what corrosive ammo is? The primer produces a reaction byproduct (KCl, or salt) that attracts moisture to whatever it's caked on. That's all. The primer isn't "corrosive" per se, neither is the reaction byproduct. It just promotes rust from ambient moisture.
My cleaning regimen for corrosive ammo consists of the following: do a basic field strip, spray barrel, bolt, chamber, receiver and gas system with G96 Gun Treatment and put away. Maybe wipe off the grime if I feel like it. Still waiting for a speck of rust.
