7.62 x39 Norinco White box. It has the Blue lettering on it. Has anyone had "misfires with this ammo". ??
My friend bought a wack of it and says he's getting the Occasional misfire using it. When he uses the corrosive, His sks runs 100%
I have cleaned the gun and inspected the bolt,,,cant seem to see anything wrong with the gun. This weekend I'm going to try some of his ammo in my sks and see if it misfires.

UPDATE- not the ammo. was a spring in the firing pin. later post...

That white box stuff is all junk. I'll help your friend out and take it all off his hands for $0.25/round. :)

Honestly, I have shot thousands of rounds of that stuff. I've had a few misfires, but all were ignited on the second hammer drop. Perhaps the primers are just a bit harder than the berdan primed stuff. I would expect the opposite to be true but you never know.

The Dominion/LCW? That's commercial production right?

I just remember it being in a white box with BLUE Norinco writing on it. He bought 600 rounds,..came wraped in Sealed clear plastic.

here is a pic I grabbed off the net.

Yes this is whats happening.
I looked at the round that didn't fire,..and it had a good primer HIT. He put the bullet back in and it went bang the 2nd time.

update- not the ammo. It seems some one had put a really stiff spring in the "firing Pin" assembly. Ive never seen that before. I suppose they put it in to prevent Slam-Fires,..but instead made the gun pretty useless. It was getting very weak primmer hits. Tossed the spring ,now it runs perfect.

So its a second hand rifle from private seller?

I bought it at frontier fire arms. Its a weird looking spring.
"many strands of wire to make the spring." looks like coiled rope. Very ridged.
The bolt was mismatched as well. 2 different halves. Non matching numbers gun.

If I remember correctly, my SKS has that style of spring elsewhere in the gun (mine is a free floating firing pin).

I wonder if that's a factory sprung firing pin.
